DRESS UP & STAY HOME,
WORLDSKILLS 2026, SHANGHAI, CHINA

from April to December, with the trip taking place in September/October

From each secondary school established by the Pilsen Region, 2–3 students (depending on the size of the school) can participate in the program. Participants should be active and proactive, remain students of their secondary school throughout the entire calendar year 2026, and have English proficiency at the B2 level.

The selection process takes place at the school level. Each interested student must apply by January 11, 2026, using the following link: https://forms.office.com/e/GZxYDi2Lph?origin=lprLink

The school will then select 2–3 candidates and 1 alternate from the applicants to represent the school in the program. 16. 2. 2026.

The introductory meeting for all candidates will take place on March 11, 2026 at the Techmania Science Center.

The program is designed
to develop the following
competencies:

Pilsen Region – Education, Transport, Healthcare
The ability to perceive aspects of quality of life and how it is influenced at the regional level by the global competition of ideas, products, and services.
Students will understand the importance of Global thinking for Local acting on Regional wellbeing.

WorldSKILLS 2026
The ability to understand how professions are changing, which skills will be key in the next 10–15 years, and how to systematically acquire them.
Students will realize the importance of global organizations for local and regional development.

Intercultural Understanding and Globalization
The ability to understand political, economic, and social differences resulting from the development of various civilizations.
Students will realize that different societal developments around the world have led to the creation of different civilizations, which now shape global coexistence.

Leadership, Management, and Independence
The ability to be proactive, initiate activities, and drive progress.
Students will realize that without a leader (with a vision), development is slow and questionable. Likewise, without a story (narrative) and organizational structure (bureaucracy), progress is hindered.

Personal Development
The ability to self-reflect for self-actualization.
Students will understand the importance of developing their mindset, habits, skills, and knowledge for personal growth.

Digital Assistants
The ability to use digital assistants for communication, planning, orientation, and personal development.
Students will be exposed to using tools such as Microsoft, Teams, Forms, SharePoint, Outlook, Google Maps, AI, etc.

Presentation
The ability to present and communicate effectively.
Students will learn to distinguish different target audiences, define the objective of a message for a specific audience, and choose the appropriate communication tool to achieve their presentation goal.

Basic Idea

There must be enough people in the region who are aware of global trends in order to take advantage of them. Individuals with a global outlook are often isolated in their efforts and lack partners to implement these trends.

The solution is to create space for generational change. We must ensure that every year a sufficiently large group of high school students with global experience is formed. This will give them the perspective and motivation to strengthen the region’s development.

The Pilsen Region, together with its partners, will be the driving force behind this generational change.

DRESS UP & STAY HOME

A young white anthropologist once asked Florence Edenshaw, a respected elder of the Haida Nation: “What should I do to respect myself?” Edenshaw replied:
“DRESS UP & STAY HOME.” In other words: “Dress up and stay home.” In a broader sense, this could be interpreted today as: “Educate yourself as much as you can (that will be your freedom), and then use that knowledge at the local level (that will be your happiness).”

Project Goal

Global thinking
Ensure that each year, 2% of active high school students from across the Pilsen Region gain personal experience with global events such as the World Expo, WorldSkills Summit, etc.

Local acting
Support the transfer of global trends (ideas, technologies, culture, environment, etc.) into the life of the Pilsen Region.

Regional wellbeing
By transferring global trends into the life of the Pilsen Region, support the region’s competitiveness and quality of life.

Target Group

• Approximately 100 high school students from the Pilsen Region participate each year (ideally from every participating high school).

• Participant profile: An active student with English proficiency at the B2 level, from any type of high school, ideally 17–18 years old.

• The selection process is conducted annually at both the school and regional levels.
